The Compagnia dei Folli (Company of Fools), born in 1984, is a group dedicated to street theatre. This art form has its root in the early Middle Ages, when streets and squares were brought to life by a variety of artists, including fire eaters, mimes, jugglers and musicians. Among them were the 'grallatores' - the stilt-walkers - and it is from them that our company takes inspiration. In our shows, we bring to life timeless stories and legends, using stilts, fire, suspended artists, fireworks and music. Without using words, we create a visual and musical spectacular suitable for every age and nationality. We perform at pageants, carnivals, street-theatre festivals, conventions, meetings and so on. We are also available to fully plan and produce historical banquets and festivals, with food, wine and entertainment.
Our shows have been successfully performed both in Italy and throughout Europe and Africa.
Since 1996 we collaborate with the organisers of the Carnival of Venice for the realisation of the final event of the Carnival in Piazza San Marco and we are responsible of the ‘Flight of the Angel’ from the tower of the church of San Marco (who in 2003 will be represented by the singer Grace Jones).
In July 2002 the Company took part in Grahamstown (South Africa) to ‘The Arts Festival’, the most important artistic festival in Africa.
On June, 2, 2001, the Compagnia dei Folli realised the closure venue of the ’Festival culturel europčen‘ in Algeria (Africa).
In summer 2001 and 2002 we took part to two TV shows together with other well-known artists (singers and dancers) for the italian TV channels RAIUNO and RAIDUE.
In October 2002, the japanese TV channel ‘Nippon Noso Kyokai’ entirely dedicated to the Company one number of the ‘European Life’ show widely followed all over the country.
